Right now, I am seeing a lot of clients dealing with grief events so I thought I would talk about it because grief is kind of an expensive emotion. On the other side of grief there is often a cash payout. Hear me out on this one…
When people think about grief they immediately think about the death of a person. But we as humans encounter lots of other types of losses in life that need to be grieved so we can move on to the next level.
Let’s look at the losses many people are dealing with right now.
-The loss of a business or Job
-A beloved pet. Sometimes that one can be harder than the loss of a family member. Ask me how I know this.
-A project of yours that you were expecting to be a massive success but instead turned into a massive failure.
-The perception of personal safety that got smashed by something ugly on the news.
-A relationship or that you thought was “the one” but instead ended up being “a massive turd sandwich.” A quote from a recent client by the way..loved it!
Greif that we bury inside keeps us stuck in the past, in that expectation hangover, in that job relationship or situation that is no longer a part of reality. That stuck state keeps you from getting that better new thing that you really want.
And believe me, there is ALWAYS something better.
If it was a person you lost, I am very sorry for you, and they won’t be replaced. But there will be other connections and happiness to be had even with that loss.
It’s time for all of us to have a good cry.
Oh, Jill I don’t want to feel that because once I start crying I won’t stop.
Eventually you get a bit dehydrated and stop so the more you let it out the sooner you will recover and move forward.
But Jill I feel like I have no reason to feel bad, other people have it so much worse.
Yes, and they need a good cry too, show them how it’s done.
So, what’s the payoff for dealing with my grief? You said something about MONEY?. Glad you asked cuz there is a payoff…
Grief when dealt with tends to bring you closer to your spiritual/intuitive side which gives you massive insights into what changes you need to make in your life.
I can’t tell you how many millionaire success stories I have heard started with “This terrible thing happened then….” Or “I was 50K in debt then I had this idea”
Don’t let those opportunities go by without taking notes because sometimes the most profound changes happen after a terrible loss or disappointment.
Know that you are loved, valued, and appreciated.
Namaste.
