The secret Controversial world of channeling
Lots of books and articles coming out not that the authors say are “Channeled”. With so much talk about channeling right now I thought I would explain this a bit.
Firstly, let’s define a couple of things.
The Guide is the being on the other side, the one without the body, who is delivering the messages. They are presumed to be at a higher spiritual level.
The Channel is the person who allows the guide to use their body as a channel to give messages to other humans.
Make sense? I hope so.
There are different kinds of channeling-I bet you didn’t know that did you?
Deep Trance channeling: This is where the channel gets into a meditative state and allows another being to enter their body, use their vocal cords and body to share information. They often will speak with a different voice or have an unusual accent and sometimes speak in a language the channel does not know. The channel usually does not remember what was said.
This is the kind of channeling Edgar Cayce used to do and it’s what most people think of when they hear the word “channeling”.
Vocal channeling: Similar to trance channeling, the channel steps somewhat out of their body and allows the other being to use their vocal cords to share messages. Like with trance channeling they will often change the voice and have an accent the person doesn’t typically have. But unlike trance channeling the channel does not go so deep that they lose track of what was said, and the channel can, and often does break into the session to share their perspective on what is coming through as in..
“The guide said a bird, but he is showing me a picture of a tree, so I think he means a tree”.
Relay channeling: Also, done in a trance state where the channel hears the messages in their head then relays them to a client.
Like with vocal channeling, the channel remembers everything and is always in charge of what they allow the being on the other side to manipulate. Usually, No strange accents with relay channeling.
Channeled writing: This one is basically relay channeling done with a pen or a laptop. Often the person doing the writing goes so deep into trance that the words seem to spontaneously happen. Usually, channeled writing sessions don’t go on longer than 30-45 minutes at a time because it’s hard for most people to stay in that channeled state for longer.
Channeled Art: As the daughter of an artist, I would argue that all art is channeled. But it is true that some art emits a feeling, and some doesn’t. Some artists tell me they go into their studio, get lost in time and space then come out hours later with an amazing piece they barely remember creating. THAT is channeled art.
Personally, I do vocal channeling, relay channeling and as well as channeled writing. I will tell you it took a long time to realize that some of my writing was channeled but once I did, tapping in became easier and my writing started flowing better. Vocal channeling took longer to get comfortable with but now that I am I feel very blessed to have developed my relationship with the guides I channel.
Other stuff you should know
Mediumship is often confused with channeling.
This confusion really started because some mediums say they “Channel dead people” rather than saying they are a “vocal medium” or a “physical medium”. I will write about that one later I promise, but back to channeling.
We don’t channel just anyone: Contrary to popular belief most channels do not just channel random beings. They usually develop a relationship over time with just a few guides, typically one or two at a time and they only channel messages from them.
And just like any friendship or collaboration the guide will usually give the channel their name or what they like to be called if their name is not something the channel can physically pronounce with our limited vocal cords. The main beings the channel brings through are called “Home beings”.
Very often these home beings are ones that you have had a relationship with in other lifetimes, perhaps when they were in a physical body. Other times it may just be that you were or are friends on the other side and they are helping you complete the mission you were sent to earth at this time to complete.
You can also channel your higher self which is fine and even your own ego which is not as fine and if you are new to channeling can be a bit harder to spot but with coaching you can see it.
What about lower-level beings
People when they first start channeling, which often starts spontaneously by the way, want to know how to spot a lower level being vs the highest guide they can get.
I will say it’s not common even for new channels to bring in something truly negative, but it is fairly common to channel something that maybe isn’t as wise as you might like.
The best way to describe it is to say the message or the being just feels off. No harm done but maybe just ignore the advice received.
But Jill I see people on You-Tube channeling beings, how do I know what I should be listening to? First and foremost, Always listen to your own intuition and put that far above any advice you hear outside of yourself, even mine. Having said that I enjoy those videos too, sometimes I agree with things they say, sometimes not but I never assume they have all the answers. You will always know what’s best for you more than anyone one else out there.
Jill I think I might be channeling, how do I get some training?
Well, that can be a bit tricky because there really aren’t a lot of good places teaching this right now, but I will say a good place to start is the book “Opening to channel” By Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer. If you go to their website at https://www.orindaben.com/ they have a cool meditation series that doesn’t cost a lot and will teach you the basics but you will lack the helpful feedback you will get from a teacher.
If you happen to live in Orange County California look up my teacher Lori Camacho at https://rainateachings.com/
But beyond those I would say look for a group class that’s not too expensive where the leader doesn’t claim to be all knowing or channeling someone like Jesus. No one is all knowing and only Jesus channels Jesus.
In my experience the best classes are taught in small groups at someone’s house or online and have less than 20 participants. If you find a good one you like online let me know, people ask me about this all the time.
If you stuck around for this very long email, thank you. I tried cutting it down to blog length, which is typically around 500 words, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I hope you enjoyed the information.
