Time to reflect on our Miracles

Time to reflect on our Miracles

When I was in my 20’s I worked in the front office at an insurance agency in Arkansas (Yes, that is where I am from).  One day I kept hearing the fax machine incessantly going off in my boss’s office in the back of the building.  Annoyed I went and checked on it.

While reflecting on how a machine that was both unplugged and disconnected could be ringing I heard a loud crash and broken glass in the front of the building.

I ran out the back door then around front to find a late model Pontiac Bonneville had crashed through my window and parked on what had been my desk.

Though dramatic and scary the only casualty of that building-damaging crash was the drivers license of my 80-year-old customer who was not hurt nor was there much damage to her car (I did say it was a giant Pontiac Bonneville right?) The state of Arkansas decided shouldn’t be driving after confusing the break and the gas pedal while coming in to-you guessed it-pay her car insurance bill.

This miracle kept me from a bad end, and it made me realize that even if I couldn’t see divine intervention-for lack of a better way of putting it-in my life that doesn’t mean it wasn’t happening.

The thing is every one of you reading this has a story like that.  A time when you were saved by an almost magical set of circumstances or synchronicities that kept you from disaster.

Take a moment to recall a story or stories from your life when something like this happened to you.

Write those stories down somewhere so the memory is fresh in your mind.

When things get weird out in the world and you feel as though nothing is going you way, reflect on those stories as a way of reminding yourself that you are loved, you are protected and that everything will be ok.

And if you are deciding what indestructible car to get for your 16-year-old child consider a 1980’s model Pontiac Bonneville.  They won’t like it, but you will sleep better at night.

Know that you are loved.
